As per Tim Brown of Yahoo! Sports, the Baltimore Orioles and Los Angeles Dodgers are discussing a deal centering around Orioles starter Erik Bedard. The return package to Baltimore is unclear but Brown believes that 23 year old outfielder Matt Kemp would be the centerpiece.
The Dodgers have also been rumored to be in on Florida 3rd baseman Miguel Cabrera. So it is curious that they may be considering sending prospects that would have to be involved in the Cabrera deal to Baltimore to land Bedard. Los Angeles already boasts a fairly deep pitching rotation of Derek Lowe, Brad Penny, Chad Billingsley, Jason Schmidt, Esteban Loaiza as well as top prospect Clayton Kershaw. Then again, you can never have enough pitching.
As for Baltimore, if they are going to trade one of the games top left handed starters in Erik Bedard, they better be fleecing someone. From the Dodgers, Kershaw and/or Billingsley should be demanded along with one of Kemp, Matt Loney or Andy LaRoche. Then again, it is the Orioles so this could be a good opportunity for teams to swoop and in fleece them for Bedard.

I agree that Kershaw and Kemp shoud be demanded, but I’d ALSO ask for LaRoche as well. Bedard is that good. I think he should command 2 blue-chip prospects.
For the Dogers: Bedard, Billingsley, Penny, Lowe etc. makes for a pretty formidable staff.
I meant to say *three* prospects.
