According to the Associated Press, Tom Glavine has agreed to a 1-year $8 million deal with the Atlanta Braves. No deal has been announced yet, but sources state Glavine has already taken a physical.
The NY Mets will be compensated with a 1st round pick in next year’s draft because Glavine signed before December 1st.
Anyway, chicks [...]

According to www.impactodeportivo.com.do, the New York Mets have signed free agent 2nd baseman Luis Castillo to a 4 year deal worth $25M. This report is unconfirmed by the Mets.
If true, this is a gigantic fleece for Castillo over the Mets. The 2nd baseman has battled injuries in recent years that seem to have robbed him [...]

At the Bergen Record, Pete Caldera reports that Mariano Rivera has indeed agreed to re-sign with the NY Yankees. This comes as no surprise, as it had been stated throughout numerous media outlets over the last 24 hours. The deal has been reported for some time now, and is estimated to be worth $45 million. In a minor move on Sunday, the Oakland A’s have dealt utility infielder Marco Scutaro to the Toronto Blue Jays for two minor league pitchers. A couple interesting Tampa Bay Rays rumors are out this morning, thanks to Eduardo Encina of the St. Pete Times.
The main rumor is the possible interest of the Washington Nationals in Elijah Dukes. According to Encina, “Dukes’ manager in Licey [Dominican Republic], Tim Tolman, is the Nats third-base coach, and the Spanish-language Web site 7dias.com [...]

According to the Star Tribune, rumors abound that the Twins have offered Johan Santana a 5-year deal worth $93M.
I guess you can consider this progress for the Twins after their horrid original two year offer. But it’s still way too short on the years and the dough for the best pitcher in baseball to accept. To [...]

One of my favorite Sunday morning reads is Nick Cafardo’s Boston Globe piece. Here are the highlights from today:
Cafardo sees Miguel Cabrera as a perfect fit for Boston, likening him to Manny Ramirez. Cafardo believes, however, that the Red Sox will try to avoid the fleece from Florida, who allegedly is interested in both Clay [...]

Fox Sports has the scoop on the San Diego Padres this morning. It appears that the Pads are “strongly considering” offering arbitration to both Mike Cameron and Michael Barrett.
Cameron would seem to be a no brainer. He’ll probably accept as his being caught cheating will probably eliminate any multiple year deals from other clubs. But the [...]

Now that Yorvit Torrealba and the NY Mets have broken off contract talks, Omar Minaya finds himself in a difficult situation. The Mets have made in clear that they are not interested in bringing back Paul Lo Duca for a second tour of duty with the team. The free agent class is suspect, with Jason [...]

According to the Boston Globe, the Red Sox could be targeting Kerry Wood to improve their bullpen. Wood appeared in 22 games for the Cubs in 2007, pitching in 24 1/3 innings out of the pen while posting a 3.33 ERA. Wood could be an intriguing option for a number of teams, but his injury [...]
